Five-a side 2022/23 season ends on a high at Goals Centre, Doncaster
Divisional titles for Bradford City, Hillsborough Hornets, Barton-Hull and Club Doncaster Titans
The www.southyorkshireabilitycountsleague.com 5-a-side season enjoyed a rousing finale at Goals Centre, Doncaster last Sunday, with all four leagues playing for the four Divisional Trophies, with every player and coach receiving a commemorative medal for the afternoon.
It was a fine afternoon, and the 37 Divisional matches were watched as always by an excellent and supportive crowd.
The only downside to a thrilling matchday was a serious injury to Brandon Staplehurst, from Barton Inclusive Inter Bar. However, Emma and her staff at Goals Doncaster gave Brandon fantastic support, keeping him comfortable and getting him safely to his father’s car and onward travel to Scunthorpe General Hospital. Brandon is now recovering well and is pain-free; everyone at S Yorks ACL wishes him well and we look forward to seeing him back playing next season.
Lady Jo Newby, from Barton Hull, presented Emma and team with a bouquet and chocolates as a mark of the League’s appreciation.

Bradford City Claret took the Premiership title, winning 4 and drawing one of their four games on Sunday afternoon; Hillsborough Hornets Gold took the Championship by winning all four of their matches without conceding a goal; in League One, Barton Hull took the honours with a one hundred per cent record; and League Two saw a maiden title win for Club Doncaster Titans Yellow.
The winning clubs received their trophies from SYorks ACL Chair Mike Stylianou and SYorks ACL League President Colin Muncie; every player – and their medal -was photographed after each presentation. You can see the collection of pictures below.
Thanks to all the 5-a-side players, coaches, spectators and referees for another fantastic season and we look forward to seeing you all again for the 2023/4 campaign.
May 14th sees the final afternoon of the SYorks ACL season – it’s the 7-a-side Divisional Competition to be held at Concord Sports Centre.
See you all there!
