Regardless of lockdown being lifted in early December, the League have decided to postpone the 7-a-side fixtures scheduled for the 6th December, moving them to January.

The SYACL may be in lockdown, but the characters and personalities who make this League the success it is are very much alive and well.

Well here we are gang in the 2nd lockdown. Behind the scenes we have been conducting interviews with the players of SYACL and over the next few weeks we will publish them.
Because we have so many players I have grouped them into clubs, which has meant a revamp of the front page. In order to allow quicker loading of the pages some have become sub sites: –

As a result, the 5-a-side fixtures planned for Sunday, 15th November have been provisionally rescheduled for Sunday December 13th.

The FA statement is as follows;
An update for ‘non-elite’ football in England following latest COVID-19 restrictions
The latest UK Government restrictions have had an impact on the non-elite levels of football in England.
We can provide an update for ‘non-elite’ football in England following the UK Government’s announcement on new national COVID-19 restrictions that will be in place from Thursday 5 November 2020 until Wednesday 2 December 2020.
As a result of the UK Government’s new national COVID-19 restrictions; and subject to Members of Parliament voting tomorrow [Wednesday 4th November 2020] and the publication of bespoke guidance from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport [DCMS], the impact on ‘non elite’ football in England will include the suspension of the following during this period:
• All fixtures and training for Steps 3-6 of the National League System [NLS];
• All fixtures and training for Tiers 3-7 of the Women’s Football Pyramid [WFP];
• All fixtures and training for the Regional NLS Feeder Leagues;
• All fixtures and training for The Barclays FA WSL Academy League;
• All fixtures and training for FA Girls Regional Talent Clubs;
• All fixtures and training for indoor and outdoor youth and adult grassroots football.
Our aim is to ensure that the 2020-21 season is completed at these levels and will liaise with the relevant leagues in the NLS and WFP and the County Football Associations [CFAs] to provide support and establish appropriate options to do so if required.
The UK Government has confirmed that school sport can continue as an exemption during this period.
Re-starting football at these levels has taken substantial determination and commitment from stakeholders across the game and we would like to thank everyone for their vital contributions. However, health and wellbeing remain the priority, so it is extremely important that clubs, players, coaches, match officials, league officials, volunteers, parents, carers, and facility providers adhere to the UK Government’s new national COVID-19 restrictions during this period.
The Government has confirmed that while school sport can continue, no grassroots sport can take place outside of the school setting during the lockdown period.
To reduce social contact, the Government has ordered certain businesses and venues to close. These include indoor and outdoor sports facilities.

The clash of the two teams in the South Yorkshire Ability Counts League 7-a- side between Blues n Clarets finished with 1 win each.
Blue’s remain top of the League and Claret’s move up to 2nd.

The first half ended 0-0 but it was not as boring as it might sound as both teams played some really good competitive football; however, both teams struggled to get the ball in the back of the net.
The 2nd half started off well for the Blues, who scored in the first couple of minutes with a great strike from Dale, but that was cancelled out by a great goal from Andro. Luke then scored the winning goal for the Blues with a really lucky miss-hit that Steven Jowett couldn’t get hold of .

The Clarets took a surprise 1-0 lead with a great team goal from Ben Robinson, keeping the lead up to half-time. In the 2nd half the Blues pushed hard for a equaliser which eventually came from Dale making it 1-1. However, in the last 3 minutes of the game the Clarets took the lead again through Ben Robinson, in the right place again at the right time, leaving it open for a really good ending to the game. No matter what the Blues threw at them they couldn’t get past Steven. Tim had a shot from a distance which looked to be going in, only for the keeper to again pull off a wonderful save. The Clarets had their chances too.

It’s an all-Bradford affair in South Yorkshire Ability Counts League Seven-a-side Division One this Sunday when Bradford City Blue and Bradford City Claret play a double-header at Bradford City, with the action starting at 12 noon.
Covid-19 restrictions continue to apply to both matches, meaning that, as yet, we are unable to welcome back spectators. There will be the usual pre-match and track-and-trace precautions before the action starts; but you can be sure that when that first whistle blows the football will be all that matters.
After two match days in the seven a side competition, Blue are leading the way in the Division with a 100% record from their 4 matches; but Claret have drawn 3 of their 4 games and will be all out to narrow the gap to their local rivals.

The Sheffield FA have published a poster designed to help young people to understand how they can play their part in the strategy designed to control the Covid-19 virus and keep football safe for everyone that takes part.
They have worked extremely hard to work closely with clubs to ensure that every club has the right policies and procedures in place for the safe return of football. This is their first piece aimed specifically at young people involved in football.
