Action and goals galore as the Fives take over Goals Sheffield
Six of the best for perfect Barton Hull Vikings in the Premier
Sheffield Purple edge Dooley White in the Championship
Hornets Jet head both Bradford City teams in League One
Dooley Green set a fast pace in League Two
After the weather played havoc with the Christmas scheduling, it was back to action for the @southyorkshireabilitycountsleague.com as our five-a-side teams took to the pitches at Goals Sheffield for 33 action-packed fixtures across four divisions.
The weather hasn’t impacted too seriously on our fundraising campaign in support of the National Autistic Society – our campaign has reached £2810 of our target of £3000. Given Gift Aid, we will have again smashed our target with one more 7-a-side matchday to complete.
In addition, Colin visited the Ryegate Centre at Sheffield Children’s Hospital, and we’re delighted to say that work on the outdoor facilities will start in February. Look out for more news in the coming weeks, and a special day for many of our players who hold Ryegate in such high regard.
So to the football, and in the Premier Division it was a phenomenal day for Barton-Hull Vikings, who won all six of their fixtures as they played catch up from previous weeks. Brian was our match referee. Thanks to our match reporters, and to Margaret, our editor in Chief, for catching up on the thrills and spills.
Barton’s coach, Geoff talked www.southyorkshireabilitycountsleague.com through the action.
“ The squad of seven Vikings and myself travelled to Sheffield always knowing that with six fixtures it was going to be a hard day; but each and every one of them were fantastic and contributed in their own way. They should all be proud of their performances, attitude and behaviours. “
Match 1 – CD Titans
An early goal by Reece saw Vikings in control and a second rebound from Reece made it 2-0. Great play by Vikings and a great assist by Kai helped Antony make it 3-0 and had Vikings switch to two touch only. Titans continued to press forward and got a deserved goal to make it finish 3-1.
Match 2 – Base Hub
Vikings picked up where they left off, Reece finishing after a great one two with Antony. Charlie made it 2-0 after an assist by Antony and Reece picked up on an error to make it 3-0. Base Hub brought on an extra player and scored following great team play, but Vikings were in the mood and Charlie scored his second after a great assist by L. Reece completed his hat trick with a great goal to see it finish 5-1.
Match 3 – Bradford City
Having beaten Bradford last time out, we knew they would be up for revenge, but in a hotly contested match, Vikings were brilliant! A great strike by Reece and Antony being alert to a rebound made it 2-0. Antony hit the post but then came the Bradford pressure, but there was no way through. George was unpassable, a true captain’s performance. Kai and L come on to add fresh legs and pressured all match to see out the 2-0 win.
Match 4 – Inter (local derby part 1)
These games are always tight. With a promising young keeper making his seasons debut for Inter they were up for it and Callum put them ahead with an early goal and it stayed like that till half time. Vikings didn’t panic and following great saves from Stu and Jay, equalised through a piece of individual magic by Reece. Vikings continued to come forward and were rewarded when Charlie put away a great finish to make it 2-1. Inter fought back and in the end it needed a great save by Jay to keep the final score 2-1.
Match 5 – CD Titans
Due to injuries Cd Titans were down to three players so George and Luke volunteered to join them and make it 5-a-side. In a good game, Vikings came out on top 4-0 through goals from Reese, Antony and two from Charlie.
Match 6 – inter (local derby part 2)
Probably the last game Vikings wanted with their energy levels being tested and Inter wanted revenge. Reese put Vikings ahead but then it needed a strong team performance and great defending and pressing from L, George and Kai to keep it at 1-0. Even in the very last minute Vikings needed a great double save from Jay to see out the 1-0 win.
” There was a case for everyone to be player of the day today. Some great goals and individual skills, great passing, great saves and great defending.
For the great effort he put in in every game, his great leadership and calm head and his blocking in the Bradford game when the Vikings were under real pressure, George just got the nod for player of the day . ”
A fantastic effort. That win over Bradford City Claret gave Vikings a 7 point lead going into February’s matchday.
Titans John Hibbert gave us his take on the day. “ In our first game with Barton, they started really strong scored two fast goals then they scored another. Bradley Frost beat two players and scored our first goal with the games end to end stuff; but we ran out of time and lost Titans 1 Barton Vikings 3 ”
“ In Titans second game against Base Hub Purple, we played really well passing the ball well. Mark Wood beat his opponent and scored first then they scored their first. They started to dominate the game; we had four players they had a full team so with that extra man they were stronger. Bradley Frost scored our second goal, but the game ended Titans 2 Base 5. “
Elsewhere, Bradford City Claret beat Inter Barton and Base United Purple to stay second in the table.
Barton Hull Vikings enjoy a seven point lead after 12 games, having won 11 and lost one after a brilliant day. Bradford City Claret are second, ahead by 13 points over Base Hub United Purple; Inter Barton have eight points, and Titans Blue seven in a really competitive division.

In the Championship, there were nine fixtures, overseen by Brian and one match under the watchful eye of new referee Archie.
Titans Ladies wonderful coach Steph Hall reflected on a great day for Club Doncaster Titans Ladies –which wasn’t really reflected in the results.
Match 1: Sheffield FC vs CDT Ladies
This was a very close match between the two teams. Both teams created chances, but defences stood strong. CTD Ladies defended brilliantly which limited Sheffield’s chances. Nikita and Ellie came very close to scoring on several occasions but were denied by good saves and the post. Kaz did some brilliant saves to keep CDT Ladies in the game. The ladies continued battling and playing brilliantly. With the last kick of the game Sheffield FC scored to win the game. This was a fantastic performance by the ladies, the best of the season so far but unfortunately didn’t get the point they deserved.
Match 2: Mansfield vs CDT Ladies
This was a tough match against a good Mansfield side. Mansfield started strongly but CDT Ladies defended well as a team. Mansfield took the lead after some good play. CDT Ladies continued defending well and created some good chances but were denied by good saves. Mansfield kept pressing but were denied by some brilliant saves from Kaz and brilliant defending by the ladies. The pressure paid off when CDT Ladies equalised after Ellie passed to Nikita who scored from long range! The game continued to be very close with there not being much between the teams. In the end Mansfield scored the winning goal near the end of the game. This was another fantastic performance by CDT Ladies and compared to the previous result with Mansfield this showed how much the team has progressed.
Match 3: CDT Ladies vs Derek Dooley
This was another tough game for CDT Ladies. CDT Ladies continued defending well and created several good chances but were denied by good saves. Derek Dooley took the lead after scoring from close range. Kaz made some brilliant and unique saves to keep CDT Ladies in the game. Half way through the game Derek Dooley extended their lead. CDT Ladies continued pressing and it paid off when Nikita had a shot on goal, the goalkeeper saved it, it came out to Zee who passed it to Nikita who then scored from close range. This inspired the ladies more and they continued pressing and created some more chances. In the end it wasn’t to be, and Derek Dooley scored again in the final minutes of the game. CDT Ladies should be proud of all their performances today and the progress shown.
Derek Dooley’s White brilliant coach Nathan Pearson reflected on his team’s day.
In our first game with Base Hub United Blue, it was a very solid performance from Dooley Whites, led by coach Matt, in this game showing some great team work and passing the ball very well. With goals from Tom and Jordan F in this game and Shaun with some brilliant saves.
In our second game with Mansfield Town FC Claret, we showed a performance full of the determination and resilience to come back from 3-1 behind to draw this game 3-3. Goals from Jordan F and Shaun in this game and some great defending from Matt.
In the third match with Titans Ladies, it was another very solid performance in the final game of the day, some great work at keeping possession and some very well taken goals from Tom and Luke in this one. A very good day of football for Dooley Whites.
When the dust had settled, Sheffield Purple – with three wins on the day – head the table by 4 points from Dooley White. Mansfield Claret won one, lost one nd drew one to sit third on nineteen points, Sheffield Orange have 18, Base Hub Blue 5 and the unlucky Titans Ladies one, with surely more to come.

In League One, refereed by Archie and Tony, Dooley coach Nathan took us through a tough day for Derek Dooley Blue.
It was a tough first game for Dooley Blues against Hornets Jet. However the commitment from all our players was top notch, some very good passing in this game from everyone with some great saves from goalkeeper Alistair.
In game 2, against Bradford City Diamonds, it was a much improved performance with a great work rate and teamwork from everyone, and Tanisha getting a last second equaliser. A great end to a great game.
A solid performance in this game – against Bradford City Emeralds – from everyone; there was some amazing defending in this game from Cody and Alistair, with Tanisha and Woody combining well to score our only goal of the game. A great day of fun football for our Dooley Blues.
Bradford City Emeralds took bragging rights with a good win over Bradford City Diamonds, but Hillsborough Hornets Jet – with wins over S12 Allstars, Dooley Blue and Mansfield Town Red head the table with thirty points from Bradford Emeralds, who are just three points behind. Bradford City Diamonds are two back, with a thrilling season’s end in prospect. Mansfield Red have 15 points, Dooley Blue 7 and the brave S12 Allstars three points.

Into League One, with Tony in charge, and another entertaining afternoon of football.
Liam Taylor gave us the perspective from Club Doncaster Titans Yellow.
Our first game with Spartans was end to end to start with and Titans scored with a good goal from Christian to go 1-0 up. Then Spartans scored to make it 1-1 and then Christian to make it 2-1 Titans. Spartans then made it 2-2 and an Og from Spartans to make it 3-2 to Titans.
In match two against Hillsborough Hornets, this was also end to end to start with and great passing and movement from Titans led to them scoring to make it 1-0 with a good goal from Barney. Then a long shot from Hillsborough to make it 1-1 and Hillsborough scored again to make it 2-1.
In our final match against Derek Dooley Green Titans had an early penalty. Emily was unlucky not to score it. Derek Dooley scored to make it 1-0 and Derek Dooley scored to make it 2-0.
” Great performance from everyone today and I am really happy with Emily on her debut, and everyone give a 110% I am really proud of you all too. ”
Nathan Pearson talked us through a great afternoon for Derek Dooley Green
Our first game was with Hornets Onyx, and it was a very solid first performance led by coach Steve, some very impressive teamwork was shown in this game from all of our players and a very good debut from Molly. With CJ and William scoring the goals here.
Our second game with Spartans was a very entertaining game to watch for everyone involved; some great defending from CJ and some amazing saves from Shane in this game. Archie scoring the only goal in a very good game to watch, this game was played in great spirits.
A very good final game performance against Titans Yellow from everyone involved, some very good passing and defending from all of our players doing all of us proud. A couple of great finishes from us in this game for our goals too. A very good day of football for Derek Dooley Greens.
League Two continues to enthral. Nathan’s Dooley Green have a well-deserved lead over Hornets Onyx and Titans Yellow, but Spartans move on to eight points after a win over Hornets.

Fundraiser for National Autistic Society closes in on target
Bradford City Claret 5 points clear in Premier Division
Sheffield Purple & Dooley White in Championship fight
Three – way struggle at the top of League One
Dooley Green looking good in thrilling League Two race
The last www.southyorkshireabilitycountsleague.com matchday of 2024 involved our adult 5-a-side teams in a wonderful afternoon of football at Goals Sheffield last Sunday. There were 26 matches across four divisions, with goals galore, fantastic crowds and plenty of action.
The League ran another collection in support of our Christmas Fundraiser for the National Autistic Society, and with just one more fundraising event scheduled for January’s seven a side matches, the £3000 target is well within our reach. If you haven’t donated already, visit our website and the JustGiving site which our President Colin is running on behalf of the fundraiser. Every penny counts, so please give if you can. Special mention to Sheffield Forgemasters for another fabulous donation, and thanks to Sarah and Jeremy Makepeace, and to Ian Nicholls from SFM.
In the Premier Division, there were five matches under the watchful eye of referee Sean. Club Doncaster Titans Blue got the action underway with a close win over Base Hub United Purple. “ This was a good game played by both teams, ” Titans John Hibbert told us. “ It was close, end to end and both teams created lots of chances. The players worked well as a team defensively and attacking and the goalkeeper did some brilliant saves too. CDT scored two goals which were scored by Mark and Brad. Base scored one. In the end CDT Blue came out on top and won the game. ”
It was a good afternoon for Bradford City Claret and their coach Danny. “ A big well done to the Bradford City DFC Clarets yesterday, going all day unbeaten winning 2 and drawing 1.
City’s Paul Jubb told us “ Here are the results. ”
“ Bradford City DFC Clarets v Inter Barton, won 4-1 scorers were Ben Shane and Mason Stephen.
Titans Blue and Bradford Claret shared the points after a breathless 4-4 draw. “
“ In our match with Bradford, we started to play but Bradford were too organised passing the ball about then all of a sudden it was like watching a tennis match, ” John Hibbert explained.
“ From end to end they scored their first goal giving them a foothold in the game. They scored again and again so now it was 3-0 to Bradford then they went on two touches. Scoring again and then they took a player off. “
“ Then we started to play our game. Sean scored our first goal; then they started again but again Sean scored again so now it was 4-2 but Brad beat his player but skied it and Sean got the rebound and scored again made it 4-3 then Sean beat his player and scored again, and it ended up 4-4. So we did really well to draw. ”
” We drew 4-4 with Titans, all our goals coming from Ben ( I would like to say we were 4-0 up at one point and took players off to help out! “ was Paul Jubb’s observation on proceedings. “
After Base Hub United Purple had beaten Inter Barton in a nine-goal thriller, Bradford City Claret faced off with Titans Blue for a second time. “ We won 4-1, with goals coming from Shane, Ben and Mason, “ coach Danny told us, adding, “ Our player of the day went to Ben; a big well done to you all.
Top of the League – but 3 games ahead of 2nd place so still a lot to do. “
“ In our third match with Bradford we started to play our game, but they scored their first goal; then it went from bad to worse; they dominated all the game but then Sean scored so the score ended up Bradford 4 Titans 1 ”
With Barton Hull Vikings unable to make the trip across, Bradford City Claret took full advantage and now have a five point lead over the Vikings, with Base United a further five points behind, Inter Barton have 8 points, and Titans Blue seven.

After eight games in the Championship on Sunday, with Brian on the whistle, there’s little to choose between Sheffield Purple and Dooley White. Sheffield Purple beat stablemates Sheffield Orange and Base Hub United Blue but lost to Derek Dooley White by the only goal of the game. Derek Dooley White beat Club Doncaster Titans Ladies and Sheffield FC Orange to close in on the League Leaders.
Mansfield Town Claret had three cracking wins to move up to third. Sheffield Orange have twelve points, Base Hub United have five, and despite being in contention in every game they play, Titans Ladies are still looking for a first win. It’s only a matter of time!!!!

Stephen and Jaimie coached the Diamonds, who beat Dooley Blue 4-2, goals from Maisie and Harvinder with a hat-trick. Jamie was quick to praise Steven who played well out of defence. The Diamonds lost to Hillsborough, and then to the Emeralds under difficult circumstances.
“ Our player of the day was Matty for giving it his all and switching positions when the teams all changed about. He even played in goal! ” Jaimie and Stephen told us. “ After an eventful day Diamonds are currently joint top of the league! “
It was a great day for Paul Jubb’s Emeralds team.
“ Well done to Bradford City DFC Emeralds today, ” Paul told us. “ We played 3 games and won all 3 games! Won 3-1 against Hillsborough Hornets in a close hard game against the top team in the league! Another amazingly entertaining day in League Two. After Hornets Onyx beat Titans Yellow in a super game, Spartans had a tough start to the day as they lost to table-toppers Dooley Green. This was followed by an end-to end nine-goal thriller in which Titans Yellow edged Spartans 5-4. Dooley Green shared the points in a four goal thriller with title-chasing Hillsborough Onyx, then took three points from Titans Yellow. In the final thriller, Hillsborough Onyx saw off Richard and his Spartans team to extend their deserved league at the top of the table.
Standings:

In the Premier Division, officiated by Peter, there were 8 matches on Pitch 4. Club Doncaster Titans Blue got the afternoon under way, watched by Titans coach John Hibbert.
“ In our first game against Base Hub United Purple, we started really well, ” John explained. “ But we started being disorganised, trying to take on all players instead of passing; both keepers played outstandingly well, but Base scored when it went through our goalies legs, so we lost 1-0. ”
Barton-Hull Vikings edged a tremendous game with Bradford City Claret before Base Hub Purple shared four goals with Inter Barton.
Vikings are in excellent form, and it showed in their next match against Club Doncaster Titans, watched by John Hibbert.

Inter Barton and Bradford City Claret drew 3-3 in a tremendous game before Barton-Hull Vikings convincingly beat Base Hub United.
Better news for Titans Blue who finished the day with a good win over Inter Barton.

It was half way through the game that Bradley got free from his marker and scored our first goal. We started to control the game, then Shaun scored his debut goal, so then we started to play our game. ”

Derek Dooley Blue got the afternoon under way with a narrow win over S12 Allstars, as Claire and Nathan from Dooley explained.
“ It was a great performance from everyone in a very tight game, Tanisha with a great goal showing some great finishing. Some amazing passing was shown in this game which was a very good game from both teams which ended 1-0 to Dooley Blues. ”
Bradford City Diamonds (Jamie’s team) scored a narrow win over Hillsborough Hornets Jet before Bradford City Emerald’s (Paul’s team) took three points with a fine win over Mansfield Town FC Red.

Unexpectedly, in the next game Jamie’s Bradford City Diamonds took the win over S12 All Stars before staying on to beat Mansfield Town Red. Paul’s Bradford City Emeralds enjoyed a good win over Dooley Blue, watched by Claire and Nathan.
“ Another tough game against Bradford where we showed some great passing and dribbling in this game, also some amazing saves from Alistair who was in goal for all of our games today. ”
In the final game of the day – we think – Hornets Jet defeated Mansfield Town Red. Well done to Brian for keeping track of who was playing who…
On a more serious note, Jamie’s Bradford City Diamonds, with a perfect record, lead the division by three points from the Impressive Hillsborough Hornets Jet. Paul’s Bradford City Emerald have some work to do to catch their clubmates and the guys from S6 and have Mansfield Town Red just behind on six points. So to League Two, where Tony oversaw six matches. In the first of these, Spartans and Hillsborough Hornets Onyx shared a 3-3 draw in a breathtaking clash. This was Spartans first point of the season as they converted their exciting style of football into a point against excellent opposition.
Dooley Green took all three points with a narrow win over Club Doncaster Titans Yellow, watched by Nathan Pearson and Claire Cowlishaw from Dooley.
“ The team started well with some great passing between William, Archie and CeeJay, which led to the first goal from William. Shane made a great 2 handed save to keep them in the lead. Bethany was solid in defence and there were another 3 goals from William and his first goal from Ceejay which was a lovely individual goal, dribbling around 2 players and shooting. ”
Spartans, encouraged by that first point, then went on to take another, sharing six goals with Club Doncaster Titans Yellow in another thriller, with Dominic , Nathan and Oliver impressing.
Dooley Green continued their impressive start to the season with a good win in a great game with Hornets Onyx.
“ They started again at the same pace despite the rain, and they were passing well between Aimee and CeeJay, ” Nathan told us. “ Lovely shots from William and they took a quick lead. ”
Dooley Green stayed on Pitch 2 to take on Spartans, now buzzing after two wins. It had been a great week for club talisman Richard; it started with a narrow, undeserved win for his beloved Blades in the Sheffield derby, but was to finish on an even greater high as Spartans took their first win of the season in an end-to-end thriller, which Spartans edged 4-3.
“ Well done to Richard, and team mates, including Jake, Sam, Paul and Daniel, ” Spartans boss Mike Stylianou told us. “ One of Richard’s goals was an instinctive piece of brilliance. What a pity it was at the wrong end..”
Joking aside, a great day for Spartans, and a fantastic match as Dooley’s Claire admitted.
A great day for Hornets Onyx too, and they rounded it off with a great win over Titans Yellow.
“ This was a more even match and there was some great defending from Bethany again with Shane pulling off some good saves. The team kept going and being positive with great words from Steve the coach. The match was one way then the other with always going back to a draw until the last minute when a great shot from Spartans new player sailed past Shane. The team put in a great effort all giving 100%. “
Dooley Green deservedly head the table with 15 points and have built up a decent advantage over nearest rivals Titans Yellow and Hornets Onyx both on seven points.
With five points in one matchday, though, don’t count out Richard and the Spartans…

Sunday 20th October 2024
32-game kick off for SYorksACL Adult 5’s at Goals Sheffield
Bradford Claret early leaders in Premier Division
Perfect start for Sheffield Purple in the Championship
Bradford Diamonds and Hornets Jets enjoy fast League One starts
Hundred per cent Dooley Green set the League Two pace
It was the usual frantic start to the www.southyorkshireabilitycountsleague.com 2024/5 season for our Adult 5-a-side teams at Goals (Sheffield) on Sunday. There were 32 fixtures during the afternoon across 4 pitches, involving many new teams and players and including an increase in girl players at this level. Fantastic to see.
Covering this busy afternoon for wwwSYorksACL.com was our website editor, Margaret Gregory, hopefully on the mend after a recent bout of ill health. Margaret was still able to crack the whip as our match reporters went above and beyond the call of duty to bring you the best of the action.
Sean was our Premier League referee on Pitch 8, where Barton Hull Vikings got the afternoon under way with a good win over Base Hub United Purple.
Barton coaches Geoff and Aaron reported on the game through Barton’s Lady Jo Newby.
“ Another season and another lovely day’s weather at Sheffield (not)! Vikings with three debutants couldn’t wait to get back into the league fixtures after promotion last year, ” Jo told us.

“ Our First game Base hub United Purple saw an even start to the match with both teams playing good football. Vikings took the lead when Reece intercepted and passed to Alex, who slotted home to get his season’s goal scoring up and running. Good play by Vikings saw Reece again assist, this time for Charlie to slot away a good finish. At 2-0 Jay was called in to action to make a great save before Reece topped off a great team performance with a goal to make the final score 3-0. ”
Inter Barton were next up with a fine win over Club Doncaster Titans Blue; Titan’s John Hibbert told www.syacl.com “ We tried, but because we were a person down, we lost 4-0 but we put up a good fight. ”
Game three gave us an early insight into how competitive this division will be this season, as Bradford City Claret edged out Barton Hull Vikings in a terrific game. Lady Jo explains.
“ This was a tough one against Bradford City, a flying start from Vikings saw efforts by Reece and Kayden saved before Alex made a great interception to finish calmly to make it 1-0. Antony made a good save to keep it 1-0 before Vikings gave the ball away and Bradford equalised. ”
“ Vikings continued to pressure but got hit twice on the break to eventually lose 3-1 in a game which could easily have gone the other way. ”
After Inter Barton had beaten Base United in another hard-fought game, Titans Blue took on Bradford City Claret.
“ In our second game against Bradford, we started to pass the ball around, and the other team couldn’t get the ball; but once Bradford Claret scored, we starting panicking on the ball, and lost 4-2. ”
North Lincolnshire bragging rights were on the line as the Vikings took on Inter Barton in a local derby which didn’t disappoint, although it must have been a long coach journey back for half of the passengers. The significance of the occasion wasn’t lost on Lady Jo or her Barton colleagues. ”
“ On to the third match, a local derby against Inter Barton, ” Jo reported. “ These are always great games and always close games. This one was no different. Vikings were desperate to make up for the defeat in the previous game and really took it to Inter, but chance after chance went begging with Inter keeper Aiden looking unbeatable. ”
Eventually the pressure paid when Charlie picked up a loose ball and slotted home. Vikings now just had to hold on. In a very mature performance they managed possession and kept Inter to only a few half chances. Alex had a chance to calm Vikings but his shot hit the post. Vikings kept their calm to hold on for the 1-0 win in what I am sure will not be the last great battle between these two teams this season. ”
“ Our player of the day was really hard to choose, ” Lady Jo admitted. “ Everyone contributed to three great team performances, but just taking the trophy was Reece whose enthusiasm, skill and encouragement of other team members was brilliant. ”
Club Doncaster Titans Blue had battled hard all afternoon, but were running close to empty when they took on Base United Purple.

“ By now our morale was at rock bottom, ” coach John Hibbert admitted. “ We kept losing the ball and our team work went out of the window. Well done to Kalam who stepped up in goal and pulled off some brilliant saves, and well played to Mark Wood who played really well today – these two shared my Man of the Day award. ”
“ We need to work on passing and moving and not running at the ball, ” John added. “ We have some stuff to work on. ”
Bradford City Claret set a marker in the final game with a good win over Inter Barton, bringing a fantastic first Premier Division matchday to a close.
With the dust settled, Bradford City Claret are impressive early leaders, with Barton Hull Vikings and Inter Barton hot on their heels. Base United took three points from their game with Titans Blue who will be desperate to kick on in December.
Here’s the table after Matchday One.
| 1 | Bradford City FITC Claret | 3 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 3 | 9 |
| 2 | Barton-Hull Vikings | 3 | 2 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 6 |
| 3 | Inter Barton | 4 | 2 | 0 | 2 | 0 | 6 |
| 4 | Base Hub United Purple | 3 | 1 | 0 | 2 | -1 | 3 |
| 5 | C.D Titans Blue | 3 | 0 | 0 | 3 | -3 | 0 |
Referee Brian oversaw the Championship action on Pitch 6, with nine games.
In the first, Titans Ladies took on Derek Dooley White. Titans Ladies coach Steph Hall watched this one.
“ This was a very fast paced game, ” Steph explained. “ Both teams had lots of chances early on but both keepers made some fantastic saves to keep the score level. Just before the half way point Derek Dooley scored to take the lead. Nikita had several chances but was denied by some brilliant saves. CDT continued defending well and created several more good chances. Unfortunately near the end Derek Dooley scored two more to secure the win. This was a tough game, but CDT played well, did some good defending and attacking play. ”
Sheffield Purple made an impressive start with a good win over the well-supported Base Hub United Blue before Mansfield Town Claret were edged out by Sheffield Orange in a seven goal thriller.
Steph was back on Pitch 6 next with her Titans Ladies team.
Dooley White saw off Sheffield Orange in a hard fought battle before Mansfield Town Claret defeated Base Hub United Blue in another raucous encounter enjoyed by everyone who watched.
Match 7 saw Titans Ladies in action for the third time of the afternoon.
“ This was another tough physical game, ” Steph Hall explained. “ Both teams created lots of chances but both goalkeepers did some brilliant saves. Sheffield Orange took the lead then scored a second quickly after. CDT defended well and created some brilliant chances. CDT kept pushing and did some brilliant attacking play that was denied by brilliant saves. Sheffield continued pressing but Karen did some good saves to deny them. Near the end Sheffield scored two more to secure the lead. This was a hard fought performance from the ladies who gave their all today! ”

Dooley White and Base Hub United Blue shared the points in a thrilling final game, leaving Dooley Head Coach Claire Cowlishaw really happy with the start her team had made.
“ The team did well with only 5 players and were very tired at the end with no subs, but the lads did well with some great passing with some even games, ” Claire summarised. “ I think this was their best start to the season with 2 wins and a draw. Luke did great as goalkeeper and Shaun scoring from a free kick in the last minute of the game. Matt was all over the pitch and worked well with Tom & Jordan and they all scored a goal. ”
The last game in the Division was an absolute thriller won with a late goal by Sheffield Purple to beat Mansfield Town FC Claret.
After three games each, the Championship is also shaping up as a nail-biter this season. Sheffield Purple are top, with three really good wins , but Dooley White are just two points behind and one ahead of Sheffield Orange, Mansfield Town Claret have three, Base United one, and Titans Ladies deserved much more after a battling afternoon.

Nine games in League One for new referee Peter to manage. In the first game, Hillsborough Hornets Jets got off to a fine start with a narrow win over S12 Allstars, before Mansfield Town Red edged Dooley Blue 3-1.
Up next, the Bradford City Disability FC derby, with Jamie’s Diamonds clinching an 8-7 win over Paul’s Emeralds in a match in which defences were certainly not on top. It was a great game, and there are pictures of parts of the action on the website at www.southyorkshireabilitycountsleague.com. Needless to say, one half of the Bradford management team was smiling a little more than the other when the whistle blew. A great game!
After Mansfield Red edged a 7-goal cracker with S12 Allstars, Hornets took a great win by 5-4 over Bradford City Emerald, who -incredibly- had scored 11 goals in two games without gaining a point!
Jamie’s Bradford City Diamonds beat Derek Dooley Blue before Bradford City Emeralds got their points tally under way with a good win over the S12 Allstars.
That left Hornets Jets to round off a brilliant afternoon with a fine win over Derek Dooley Blue. The only downside to their matchday was an injury to one of their players in the win over Bradford City Diamonds; everyone at SYorksACL wishes him a speedy recovery, as we do to the Base United player who had to limp off with a knee injury. Our best wishes to them both.

Derek Dooley Blue coach Claire summed up their afternoon.
“ The team started well but very tiring just having the 5 of them and trying to gel as a team. Alistair did great in goal saving and giving the team instructions from the back. Fallon didn’t give up and having Cody solid in defence stopped a few advances. Woody got 5 goals and Fallon one. A new experience for CJ who helped when Woody had an injury. ”
Each team having played three games, it’s Bradford City Diamonds and Hillsborough Hornets Jets who share the lead with three wins out of three. Mansfield Town Red have six points from two wins, Bradford Emeralds a well-deserved three, and S12 Allstars and Dooley Blue with nothing to show-yet-for their brilliant play.

In League Two, there were six games under the watchful eye of SYorks ACL’s Treasurer, Tony. Perpetual entertainers Spartans lost their first game to Club Doncaster Titans Yellow. Titans’ Liam Taylor summed up the goal fest for www.SYorksACl.com. “ The game start a little bit edgy, and Christian scored to make it 1-0 Titans. Spartans scored to make it 1-1 and then Barney scored to make it 2-1 Titans. Then a great team goal from Barney and Christian and Christian scored to make it 3-1 Titans. Spartans scored to make 3-2 and Barney to make It 4-2. Titans and some great saves from Brad to keep the score 4-2 and that’s how the game finished. It was a great team performance from everyone, and some great football been played too. ”
Derek Dooley Green beat a comparatively new Hillsborough Hornets Onyx team who made a great start to life in the League. Hornets beat Spartans in their second game before Dooley Green took the three points against Titans Yellow. Here’s Liam Taylor,
“ Derek Dooley scored to make 1-0 and Derek Dooley scored to make 2-0 and a penalty was given to Titans, and we scored to make it 2-1. Derek Dooley scored to make it 3-1 and that’s how the game finished. We all played well. ”
Derek Doole Green got off the mark against a plucky Spartans team, for whom Richard used the ball well, Paul had a fine game in goal, and Dominic was always a danger.
Dooley Green coach Claire summed up the afternoon, which featured one of the League’s most familiar faces.
“ This team had some new players – Aimee and Ceejay – and the return of Shaq who we’ve missed the goal celebrations that everyone hears! Under the great direction of Steve, the team were amazing with some great passing and a goal for everyone with a cracking goal from Archie. Ceejay enjoyed his first game with some great dribbling and passing and never stopped running. Some stunning goals from William. The team had a fun afternoon playing some great football. ”

In the last game of the afternoon, Titans Yellow took the win to the delight of Liam Taylor.
“ A great start from both teams and in the last 7 mins of the game and Titans scored to make it 1-0 with a great run from Shaun. Barney got the ball and scored too, Titans scored a good goal from Barney. “
“ It was a great performance for everyone today and I’m really proud with you all too. ”
Three games each for the League 2 teams, and Dooley Green are out of the blocks first to take a hundred per cent record into November, establishing a three point lead over Liam’s Titans Yellow. Hornets Onyx have three points, and Spartans may not have any points yet, but have hundreds of supporters….
